Fractions. Mr Duey.

Do you like maths? I love them! But in case you don't, give a chance and take a look of this video-song. As a teacher in primary school, I had to be responsible of a class and that meant that I had taught language and mats... and after an english course in which we learnt some english resources in primary school I found out this marvellous song. Later I'll upload other great hit from Mr Duey, but at the moment... enjoy this rap!! ACTION!!

Lyrics:

By Daniel Joseph Duey
Fractions
Chorus
I’ll teach how to get rid of an improper fraction
Teach you how to get a percentage from a fraction
I’ll teach you everything you need to know about fractions
Fractions, what’s that? Lights, camera, action
I’ll teach you everything you need to know about fractions
Fractions, everything you need to know I’ll rap
I’ll teach you how to get rid of an improper fraction
Fractions, what’s that? Lights, camera, action

Verse 1
Fractions, if it’s improper you have to change it into a mixed
number, I’ll be the one to explain it. Improper is when the top
number is bigger than the bottom so when you take the bottom fit
it into the top one. So say that the bottom is 3 and the top can be
17. How many times does 3 fit in between? Well let’s see, that’s
5 take the 5 write it down big on the line. With the 2 left over from
the 17 you must now put that 2 on top of the 3 and, wow, the
mixed number is found. It’s that easy, listen to the song and you
believe me, put your own numbers in the place of what I’m
teaching.

Verse 2
Fractions, I bet you wonder how to get a percentage, divide the
top by the bottom number. For example, 5 over 10. 10 can’t go
into 5 so add a zero to the 5 and begin. Because 10 can go into
to 50 just fine, but you need a decimal point before the number of
times. So I, I guess we’re left with ‘.5’. Now take the point by the
5, move it 2 to the right and what you have is 50 so it’s 50
percent. When Mr. Duey takes you through it then it all makes
sense. It’s that easy, listen to the song and you believe me, put
your own numbers in the place of what I’m teaching.
Fractions
Take the top number divide it by the bottom number.
What’s that? Take the top number divide it by the bottom number

Difficulty: ***
New words:
get rid of = deshacerse de      improper = impropias    top number = numerador
bottom = fondo, en este caso, denominador
