A great hit from the 90's, Trash was a song that I've heard thousand times... and I've loved (and I still do it) the melody. Now I understand the lyrics and I find it not too much difficult.
"Trash"
Maybe, maybe it's the clothes we wear, The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair, Maybe it's our kookiness, Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns, Our nothing places and our cellophane sounds, Maybe it's our looseness,
But we're trash, you and me, We're the litter on the breeze, We're the lovers on the streets, Just trash, me and you, It's in everything we do, It's in everything we do...
Maybe, maybe it's the things we say, The words we've heard and the music we play, Maybe it's our cheapness, Or maybe, maybe it's the times we've had, The lazy days and the crazes and the fads, Maybe it's our sweetness,
But we're trash, you and me, We're the litter on the breeze, We're the lovers on the street, Just trash, me and you, It's in everything we do, It's in everything we do... Difficulty: 0 New words: kookiness: ¿monerías? looseness: ¿flojera? ( loosen --> aflojar, soltar) crazes: modas, manías fads: moda pasajera

What should we make for the next day?
- Personal profile (200 words, more info in the booklet)
- Under the exercise of Creative Writing, there is a rephrasing exercise that must be done.
- The next exercise, is about looking for a mistake.
- And the last exercise ("Arctic Waters"). We have some words (below) which should be modified (with suffix and prefix) and then used for filling the gaps.
If you feel like learning or remembering some vocabulary of our first unit, you can do it. Here, I collected some vocabulary from Student's book, some related articles and some notes in class. I hope it will useful.
Yesterday I saw a car advert (fiat 500L) and the song seemed familiar to me... and after some investigations...I found that it was an old song from the marvellous Beatles!! I hope you like it!!
I think I never told you that I got my degree in Granada and as student of the University of Granada, one place that you must visit without excuses was the HIPERCOR car park, and also a disco named "Dulce Beach". I say that because this song was the great hit of the disco. Moreover there was a dance which almost everybody knew. Have fun!!
And of course the dance...

What have we make today?
After we checked the exercises from pages 28 and 29, we were learning some vocabulary from module 3 (about behaviour and attitude). We also did exercises from page 31, 4 and 5. Finally we were speaking with Toby, but in this occasion he was speaking for the whole class and personally, I think, this system works better than in small groups (but it is only my personal opinion). We were talking about some situations in page 26.
What should we do for the next day?
I remind you all that the speechs will start next 5th November, specially for those who must to be ready. Encarni gave us more details about how to do it in a proper way. We only need a draft and speak fluenty in a spontaneous way including in our speech the related vocabulary, modal verbs, grammar structures, connectors, and all that we have learnt...
Homework for the next 31st (Wednesday), Write your personal profile (you have an example in the booklet). About 200 words. Have a nice weekend!!
From next Thursday, 8th November, from 14:50 to 15:50 will be a speaking workshop in which pupuils from advanced levels (b2.1. and b2.2) will workout their speaking skills in this workshop. The workshop will take place in classroom number 8. Although the time-schedule is not attractive, I think it'll be a very good opportunity to improve!
Today we were learning how to write a formal article for our current level (advanced), here you can skip to it: http://materialforstudentsateoihellin.blogspot.com.es/2012/10/na2-opinion-article-model.html
We've checked all the exercises from Student's book and we worked some exercises from the bunch of copies "The making of me" (the booklet). A video from Vanessa Mae and the exercises (some questions and an exercise in which we should fill in the gaps). We went on with the booklet, we made and checked the "Unclaimed Baggage" and for the next day we should do the next exercise of this booklet, "Creative writing - A teacher's opinion" and from Studentsbook, pages 28 & 29, exercises 3,4 and 5. That 's all. By the way, wellcome for the new visitors!!
Leather jacket... long hair, make up on faces...I'm pretty sure that everyone who is older than 30 has hummed and played with an invisible guitar meanwhile has shaken their head in a frenzy way (like if you had had long hair). Close your eyes and remind those moments!! Nobody is watching at you!!
A current song that the first time I listened I got confused. I thought it was Sting (Police), but...I was wong. Anyway, here you are a relaxing song... Enjoy it!!
Difficulty: * New words:
rough: basto, áspero screw me over: mandar a la mierda stoop: encorvado, agachado
If you are wondering what have we made today... don't worry, I'm still here. Today Toby was once more with us and we spoke about colours and how important are in our lives or what they mean. After that, we had once more a surprising test, this time we should write an article about our first topic, Globalization. 35 or 40 minutes with a scheme at the beginning. No dictionaries or mobiles allowed.
The homework for the next day, Studentsbook, page 21, exercises 6 and 7. Enjoy your weekend!!
Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but this song contains some curious sentences. Moreover, a classic always rock!
Difficulty: * New words:
powder keg: barril de pólvora, polvorín sparks: chispa, encender
Every now and then: De vez en cuando Fall apart: deshacerse, romperse
What have we made today? Ok, we started a speaking activity with Toby and Encarni. We discuss about the cruelty with animals (those which are used to feed the humans). After this activity, we checked the bunch of copies (Expressions for Agreeing and Disagreeing) and the follow activity. Moving us to the workbook, from now on we should check the activities by our own.
Furthermore, we made exercises from Studentsbook (page 20, exercises 2 and 3, page 21, exercises 1 and 2, they were about idioms).
For the next day, exercises from Studentsbook, page 18, exercise 2b and 4. By the way, Punch lines are the last sentences of a joke. Have fun and see you on Wednesday!!
Today we started with a surprise, a listening! If you want to practice it, is at the end of the bunch of photocopies that we bought in Secretaría. We worked with some vocabulary about feelings (page 16, exercises 1,2 and 3). For this weekend, from Workbook, page 11 (exercises 1 and 2) and look inside the bunch of photocopies a page in which we'll find expressions for agreeing and disagreeing. After read it, decide which of them are used for speaking and which ones are used for a writing.
If I have to tell the truth... I didn't know the meaning of the lyrics... I've always sung (by the way, very loud) following the melody, but after I read the lyrics I think is even more amusing! See you around!
For the next day, the whole pages 5 and 6 from the Phrase Builder. If you have access to our dropbox folder, look for the file, someone uploaded a gift!! I remind you that we must buy some photocopies in Secretaría. The price will be under 3 euros. Today after a pair of exercises of page 14 (Students Book), exercises 2 and 4. Toby (our language speaker assistant for this year) spent about half class speaking about "The Culture Shock", he and Encarni were in each of our little-groups.
Ok, I know that I'll run out of songs for each day, but at the moment I got 3 in a row. This sad song reminds us what happened in 1972, Ireland, and in spite we recognise the mistakes, sadly they came one more time ever now and again (Africa, August 2012). I hope that will change!!

Today Encarni spoke about a website in which we can improve our listening skill. Click on the picture if you wanna try!
If you like documentaries, this website will like you! You can choose a topic in a browse and they usually have an outline about the general information.
One example in case you'd try, click the link: http://documentaryheaven.com/food-that-kills/
Hi! Here you have the link to workout your english. Whether you are android user or from IPhone, you can get for free the app "mygrammarlab". There are three levels.
Today we spoke about Globalization, we made a reading and also a listening. For the next day we will speak about this same topic (group) and Encarni will give us some new words only in case that we don't have all the possible choices.
The homework for the next Wednesday is exercise 1a,1b and 2 from page 4 (Workbook).
Furthermore we filled gaps from 2 exercises. Here you are the pictures of them.
For the next day you should prepare a outline about GLOBALIZATION. How? Try to imagine that you are in the exam and look for topics that could be useful to make your speech (the speaking test)
